A winter pregnancy shoot for this winter baby! It was a true winter wonderland in Boulder and it was peaceful, and it was beautiful!! This was my first time meeting Derek and Ashley, we met at a popular Boulder location to start our session in late November. If you live in the Denver or Boulder area, you know it's kind of rare for us to get any accumulating snow before January or February. Well, it was the week before Thanksgiving when we had their maternity session scheduled and it snowed hard the day before!! I am so glad these two were still willing to have their photos taken. Not only willing, but they were excited to be in the snowy winter wonderland! They said, "we are having a winter baby, so winter maternity photos will be perfect!" Yay, awesome, I love it!! We had an original plan for one Boulder location, but last minute on this day I asked Derek and Ashley if they'd be up for a pit stop at chautauqua park because it's absolutely beautiful when it has fresh dusting of snow on it! Thank goodness they trusted my vision and were so easy going because those were some of my very favorite photos from their session! One thing I love about a snowy day in a popular Boulder location is that it clears out all the people. We had the entire place to ourselves, it was so quiet, so peaceful, like we were just meant to be there. It made it even easier for Derek and Ashley to soak in each others happiness and snuggle in close for warmth.

These two are expecting their little girl in February, their first baby! I am so lucky they have hired me to photograph her newborn photos at their home, as well. I absolutely love when I get to meet the babies months after photographing them in the belly. I get to know the couple before they become parents, when they are used to it being just the two of them, and then again when they become parents. It's a whole new world for them at this point, and it is so cool to see that change all within a few weeks or months time. I know Derek and Ashley will make the most loving, caring, best parents to this little girl. She is very lucky to call these two mom and dad and I can't wait to meet her!
